Be Light

Our wood boards are built using a lightweight yet durable foam and wood composite construction. We start with a handshaped EPS blank which we then skin with a sealed wood and cork layup. Our build is stronger and lighter than a traditional foam and fiberglass construction surfboard.

Because our boards are light you have choices for your next shape:

  • Ride a smaller shape that has the same buoyancy as your current board.

  • Gain a performance advantage on your current dimensions.

  • Surf a longer shape that gets you into waves earlier but maintains the swing weight of what you have now.

Wood Skins

Our foam shapes are “skinned” top and bottom with wood. We’ve had success using a variety of wood types with this approach. We’re currently favoring cherry skins because we like the strength to weight they offer as well as the distinctive coloration of the grain. We’re also pleased with the quality of cherry we’re able to source from local vendors.

Despite using wood, we are able to put complex contours into our boards. Our standard bottom is slight vee to single concave with double concave flowing out the fin cluster and slight vee at the tail again.

Cork Rails

Cork is utilized at the rail line. We create the correct foil edge for the board without excessive weight or rigidity. The rough texture of the ground cork composite does become “wet” when surfing but does not absorb water to any significant degree.
